This weekend, the 2017-2018 BC Bouldering Provincials will take place at The Hive North Shore in North Vancouver, BC. With route setting headed by Simon Parton and Andreas Lerch and organization headed by Kate Bell, this event will be off the hook and we are really looking forward to it!
Looking at the SCBC standings, the Women’s field has been strongly dominated by Christy Spurrell, Cloe Earle, and Lola Rabinovitch, with the majority of top ten competitors qualifying for Junior and Youth categories. Dark horse competitors on the starting list include Rebecca Frangos and Samantha Li who both play an important role representing Alberta as well as veteran competitors Allison Vest and Staci White. In recent years, we have not seen the strong presence from the women competitors who have decided to focus on the World Cup circuit including Alannah Yip and Tiffany Melius.

On the Men’s side of the competition, big favourites include Jesse Taplin, who has dominated the field this year, closely followed by Guy and Kindar McNamee. If you ever have a chance to watch these two brothers in the gym, you know they are the real deal and will be very strong competitors in the future of BC climbing. Also on this list of competitors to keep you eye on are climbers Jason Mah, Ivan Lou, Tosh Sherkat, Kin Wah Lai, and Andrew Funk.
