According to Chris Small of Squamish Climbing Access Society, the logging of block SW144 in the Olesen Creek drainage until 2016 due to lumber market conditions. This means that the safety restrictions in the North Walls will no longer apply for the fall season nor will access to the Longhouse be closed.
Despite the harvest not taking place until 2016, the Squamish Access Society (SAS) and the Climbers Access Society of BC (CASBC) put in a large amount of energy to reduce the logging in this area. Both of these organizations are the first to be contacted when commercial enterprise may have an impact on climbing access. To put their work into perspective, the following image shows the proposed area to be harvested by Oceanview Forest Products and then, in yellow, the deleted harvest after consultation with SAS and CASB.
