Here is Clayton Arnall’s cut of Terry Paholek sending the Nerf Roof Project (v12).
For those who would like a little more of the background story, here is what Andy White sent us on the ascent.
It’s been yet another memorable season in the Okanagan bouldering scene. Once again, this year, we have seen a steady increase in the quantity, quality and difficulty of lines throughout the valley.
As of late, we’ve also seen visits from some strong folk from around the world and this has been especially true in the last couple weeks when a crew came to the Okanagan with their sights set on the historic Nerf Roof Project in The Boulderfields. This amazing piece of rock has puzzled many climbers over the years and the crew of Terry Paholek, Will Barnes and Conrad McFarlane were determined to solve the riddle of Nerf Roof upon their arrival.
They quickly went to work improving the landing, rounding up pads and refining beta through the roof section and over the tricky lip on Nerf. Within a couple sessions, they had the moves worked out and all began trading sends burns with Will and Conrad finding beta for a right exit while Terry stretched out to find some left exit beta.
A few session later, following a nasty fall a couple days earlier, Terry pulled on, cruised the roof, styled the lip encounter and held it together to snag the ledge and FA of the Nerf Roof (V12) in The Boulerfields.
This is another amazing addition to the tough bouldering in the Okanagan and for so many reasons, few would argue that tis is an “instant classic.”
