Camping Bylaw Passes Second and Third Reading in Squamish | Recent News
The proposed camping bylaw passed a second and third reading last night at the council meeting in Squamish, BC.
The result was a mixed bag, with the area of enforcement for the ban being reduced from its original draft but a seasonal ban being shut down by council and district staff. The Vehicle Residents of Squamish Advocacy Group tried to advocate for the crown land being in the hands of the people during the winter months but council thought there was too much ambiguity in a seasonal closure.
As reported prior, Vehicle Residents of Squamish Advocacy Group continues to work with district staff moving forward on proposed pilot projects that include permitting overnight camping in district owned parking lots.
