“There are so many places a climber has to go,” says BD Athlete Hazel Findlay. For years, she had heard about the perfect granite cracks in Bohuslän, Sweden, but only recently did she make the trip. Teamed up with her friend and fellow Brit crusher Madeleine Cope, Hazel set out to see for herself what the Swedish crags had to offer. Luckily, BD Athlete Colette McInerney was there to capture the magic as Hazel roped up for one of the area’s fiercest testpieces—the bold Electric Avenue (5.13+R).

Last night, Sean McColl became the first Canadian climber to secure a spot at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. After a disappointing Speed round and a difficult set of boulders, Sean came to compete and crushed the lead round of the 2019 Combined event in Hachioji, Japan.

Alannah Yip and Sean McColl Make it to Olympic Qualifying Event | Recent News
We are pleased to announce that both Sean McColl (6) and Alannah Yip (14), after a hard fought week of competition in the three disciplines of Bouldering, Lead and Speed, have qualified for the Olympic Combined Event that will determine the top seven athletes that will the qualify to complete in the Olympics next year.

Keep in mind that the Combined event next week will have athletes completing all three disciplines in a single day. These athletes will go through this process once to qualify for finals with the top eight moving forward and completing the process all over again!
After that, the top seven athletes will be qualify for the Olympics, with a max-quota of two for each country, meaning that if the quota is filled, the next athlete in the final ranking from a different country will move forward.
