Recent News ‘Graham McGrenere sends Extension to Dante’s Inferno (5.14a); First 5.14a’

We are very psyched to announce that Graham McGrenere has sent his first 5.14a in El Salto, Mexico to start his year long trip. The route is an extension to Dante’s Inferno. Congratulations Graham! What a way to start the trip!

El Salto is incredible. We have had an AMAZING first few days of climbing. Graham just sent his first 5.14, the extension to Dante's Inferno, said to be one of the best 5.14a's in all of Mexico!! The next day he went on to get his first 5.13b flashes (two in the same day!), on Camino de Chino Ext, and Tufa King Short. A lot of spray here I know, but I am SO psyched for him – he's been working so hard towards these goals. ❤️ It seems the training from the past 3 months is paying off! 💪 • Here he is on the send of the full Dante's Inferno (5.14a). • • • #climbing #rockclimbing #noplacetoofar #organicclimbing #elsalto #mexicoclimbing #limestone #climbing_pictures_of_instagram #doyouclimb #getoutside #getoutstayout #grippedmagazine #climbmoja #liveclimbrepeat #justgoclimb #iloooveit #happyclimbing #iloveclimbing #climbinglife #climbingisbliss #roadtrip #trainhardclimbhard #retirement2017

Interview with Larry Michienzi on his Guidebook to Oman Climbing

Over the past few years, a small contingent of climbers (including a number of Canadians!) have been putting a ton of effort into route development in the country of Oman. Seemingly an unlikely place to start a climbing journey, Oman offers some world class climbing that is relatively untouched and ready for exploration. With the most recent edition of ‘Oman Sport Climbing’ being released on the guidebook app Rakkup, we thought it best to check in with the guidebooks author, Canadian-born Larry Michienzi. Here is what he had to say.

Kristall Turm Proposal goes forward Despite Notable Public Concern

On Tuesday Jan. 17th, 2017, Squamish City Council decided to move forward with lease negotiations for the proposal set forth by Kristall Turm at the Adventure Centre Parking lot. The decision was heavily debated in chambers before a final five to one decision was made to go forward with the project, with only one City Councillor, Susan Chapelle, rejecting the proposal. Squamish Climbing Magazine will be publishing some of the outcomes of this decision at a later date that will provide a broader context for this decision and the history behind a number of variables surrounding this issue.

For those of you who would like more information, here is a excerpt from the Squamish Chief this week on the issue.
