The Male Open Qualifications rounds for the 2017 Canadian Open Bouldering Nationals has wrapped up for the day. 20 Canadians in each category will move forward to tomorrows semi-final round (which should be live streamed) starting at 8:15am Mountain Time.

The 2017 Canadian Open Bouldering Championship has started this morning and the competition is off to a strong start with Sean McColl, eight time champion, flashing the first problem. The competition scene in Canada has been fierce this year, with both Male and Female Categories producing strong competition between some very talented and dedicated competitors. Surely, the 2017 Canadian Open Bouldering Championship will be the exact same.

We are very psyched and excited to announce that Margo Hayes has completed La Rambla (5.15a) in Suirana, Spain, making it the first 5.15a female ascent in the world. At the age of 19 years old, Margo has become the first female to climb at the grade after being in Suirana for only a week. Absolutely awesome!

That moment when you send 'La Rambla' and become the first woman to climb (9a+ or 5.15a). Congratulations @margojain, a very well deserved send, and a big day for climbing.

We are pleased to announce that Elan Jonas McCrae made an ascent of Shelter (v13) in the Grand Wall Boulders on Sunday. In town for the first competition climbing of the season, competitors were treated to great conditions in the boulders following Saturday’s competition. Despite the top of the boulder being wet, Elan managed to finish the problem rather easily. Big things to come this year out of Elan as he continues to progress!

No luck on the second move of singularity yesterday but managed to climb Shelter. An amazing v13 on good crimps and tiny feet! The crux for me was the topout which was wet and covered in mud. But I managed not to slip and will upload that part in another post.
