For those of you who have not heard, Climb Base 5 in Coquitlam, BC has started an Open Performance Team for those individuals who are training for indoor or outdoor climbing goals. To be on the team, participants need to apply before August 2nd, 2015 and the selection process will involve a selection camp as well as an interview. The team will be headed by two fantastic coaches, Andrew Wilson and Matt Johnson. This is a very unique concept in the Lower Mainland and I am sure it will pay off for those individuals who want to realize their climbing goals in a team setting.
The Open Performance Team is a supported high performance climbing team for Open athletes. This program will include one coached day weekly plus a personalized training program that includes a reporting structure (athletes will be expected to complete a minimum of two additional workouts weekly). Athletes will have access to coaching at events and input from other sport science professionals (access to physiotherapist and other professionals may require additional user fees). Team members will be expected to give back to the Base5 community through mentoring, event support and roles within team logistics.
