Recent News ‘Andrew Funk sends Flying Ants (5.14a) at Acephale near Canmore, AB’

We are pleased to announce that Andrew Funk has made an ascent of Flying Ants (5.14a) at Acephale in Canmore, AB. Andrew had been working the route for the past six weeks, gaining fitness on the route.

This was his first of the grade in North America, followed by an ascent of Mal De Isla (5.14a) in Chullila, Spain back in December of 2015. Over the recent years, Andrew has been focused on school and bouldering in and around Vancouver, BC.

Talking to Andrew this morning, he said that his ascent was in part thanks to Alex Fricker, who had dried the holds prior to setting off. Minutes after the send, it began to rain again, as the beginning of the season in the Rockies has been somewhat challenging with the rain. Congratulations Andrew!
