The first competition of the season was hosted this weekend by the good folks at Gneiss Climbing. The 2018 Pop and Lock sanctioned by Sport Climbing BC was a huge success. Special thanks to all the volunteers that made it possible. Here are the final results.

Recent News ‘Sean McColl makes ascent of Northridge (v14)

We are pleased to announce that Sean McColl has made an ascent of Northridge (v14) in Gibb’s Cave, Squamish, BC. Sean had tried the route a number of years ago, breaking off the crimp on the second half of the boulder, only to return this season and put the project to rest. Congratulations Sean!

A Crawl Down the Ogre with Doug Scott – TONIGHT

Relive this harrowing tale of survival with mountaineering legend, Doug Scott introduced by BC author, Rob Wood (“At Home In Nature”)

In 1977 British mountaineering icons Doug Scott and Chris Bonnington made the first ascent of The Ogre in the Karakoram. Their descent from the summit in the dark became an epic after Scott sustained two broken legs and Bonnington broken ribs.

For the first time in Canada, Scott will recount the dramatic story that has since entered into mountaineering folklore.

Squamish Election: New Council Responds to Issues of Squamish Access Society

Before the municipal election, the Squamish Access Society asked all of the candidates to answer four questions. About half the candidates responded. Of the seven candidates recently elected to council, five gave responses. Those candidates included Karen Elliot (Mayor), Jenna Stoner (Councillor), Doug Race (Councillor), Eric Anderson (Councillor), and Chris Pettingill(Councillor).

Vancouver International Film Festival: Interview with Legendary Alpinist Doug Scott

This Friday, Oct. 19th, 2018 at the Vancouver International Mountain Film Festival, Legendary mountaineer Doug Scott will share his climbing life and his pursuit of the giants, from the Himalayas and the Karakoram to right her in the Pacific North West. Doug is also the founder of Community Action Nepal, an organization dedicated to helping the mountain people of Nepal.

We had a chance to catch up with Doug, as he travelled along the Atlantic to Vancouver. Here is what he had to say.
