EyeSend Adjustable-View Belay Glasses | Gear Review

Belay glasses have become a defining tool of the sport climber’s tool box. From their inception to now, the typical belay glasses have featured rigid prism that allows the climber to see above them, with most re-design and reinvention focusing on better and better frames without too much change to the prism. Launching on kickstarter two weeks ago, we received a pair of EyeSend Adjustable-View Belay Glasses in the mail with only minutes to go before we took off for our winter climbing trip.

First stop was Smith Rock and with its variable terrain, it proved to be the best place to review what is perhaps biggest changes in belay glasses over the past 20 years. We had a chance to review the EyeSend Adjustable-View Belay Glasses all last week and here is what we thought.

Call of the Wild Chiroptera 9a+ with Adam Ondra | Video

In the last month of preparation for Toulouse, I allowed myself two days of rock climbing. The first day could be seen in the previous episode, the first ascent of Pučmeloun 8C, the second day we spent in Slovakia, in the conglomerate area Sulov. I had there in my mind particular project that is all about pulling on small mono pockets.

Brad Gobright Dies in Rappelling Accident | Recent News

We were devastated to hear the news reported by Rock and Ice that Nevada-based Brad Gobright has died during a rappelling accident in Potrero Chico, Mexico.

Rising to fame after being featured in the Reel Rock series and recently featured in ‘The Nose Speed Record’, Brad’s personality was larger than life and he really inspired the everyday climber to give it all they had. Brad will be missed by the greater climbing community.

Big day of sending! Graham McGrenere made an ascent of The Proposal (v12) last night with unconventional beta. Talking to Graham, he said that the new beta definitely makes the problem easier but perhaps still in the low end of the v12 range. It looks as though the beta may not be translatable to all body types!

IFSC Combined Qualifier Official Start List Confirmed | Recent News

After a few upsets and miscommunications regarding the qualification process for the Olympics, especially surrounding the host country spots and country quota, the IFSC has released the start list for Toulouse! Best news – it includes Alannah Yip (which it always did.)!

It looks like everybody who has suppose to have a spot in the competition does have a spot! It is unclear at this point whether the Japanese team is actually competing for single spots in their male and female roster for the Olympics or whether those have already been chosen and their performance will not count as for the top six qualifying athletes in each gender.
