Looks like the first stop for the IFSC World Cup Tour will be here in British Columbia. The IFSC just announced that the first World Cup stop in Grindelwald, Switzerland has been cancelled. Full report here.
VIMFF Film Review: Wideboys II: Slender Gentlemen
With the arrival of the Vancouver International Mountain Film Festival (VIMFF) this weekend, Squamish Climbing Magazine will be featuring stories all this week and next about the festival. VIMFF has always been a time of inspiration and this year is no different. With the festival beginning Friday, February 13th, 2015, we are more than excited to welcome such a talented group from all over the world into our lives.
On Sunday February 15th at 2pm, the Rio Theatre in Vancouver will be host to the Beautiful BC Matinee, an afternoon show dedicated to a selection of adventure films all made here in Beautiful British Columbia including the films Wideboyz II Slender Gentleman, Going Strong, Stikine, and Seven. Below is our review of the film Wideboyz II Slender Gentlemen, by Hot Aches Productions. Set in our very own Squamish, BC, this film is surely not to be missed.
In the 2012 Hot Aches production Wide Boyz, we got to follow two pasty Brits around the United States as they systematically crushed the nation’s hardest wide cracks, culminating with a first ascent of Century Crack (5.14b), likely the hardest off-width in the world. Continue reading

Confusion at The ABS Nationals
There has been a lot of confusion regarding yesterdays win by Mohammad Jafari Mahmodabadi over Daniel Woods to end the ABS Nationals Men’s Open. The scoring system for the ABS Nationals appears to be ever changing. ABS Nationals Semi-final and Results
For those who are following the ABS Nationals, here is the link for tomorrow starting at 8am Pacific time.
For the results of the Women’s qualifiers, please click here. For the results of Men’s qualifiers, please click here. The top 20 American athletes make it into the semi-finals, along with any special case climbers who placed above the 20th american climber. 21 women and 22 men have made it into the semi-finals.

Review of Patagonia Vancouver Grand Opening
Last night, the new Patagonia Vancouver store, located on 4th and Maple, played host to their Grand Opening Party. Arriving at the event a little after 730pm, the store itself, a beautiful cedar-industrial space, was already packed with people wearing plaid shirts. From young to old, the crowd enjoyed the fixings of local food vendors, including free beer and drinks from 33 Acres and The Juice Truck, savory treats from Culver City Salads and The Aussie Pie Guys, and pie and ice cream from local shop Rain or Shine.
