Local News ‘Simon Parton’s Hueco spree continues’
Simon Parton’s Hueco trip is going very well. Apparently he had two routes on his tick list: Terremer (V15) which he sent on his first day, and Nagual(V13) which he has now climbed on his second day. Add a flash of Rogered In The Shower (V11) and I’d say that is one of the best starts to a bouldering trip ever. We can’t wait to see whats next for the talented local climber.
If you haven’t seen it already check out the video of Simon’s send of Terremer. Talk about trying hard! Super inspiring stuff.
This is what I meant by next level try hard… I don't think I've ever squeezed so hard on any hold as much as I did on the crux of Terremer. I was not about to let go as close as I was. The crux and the last few moves certainly got my adrenaline going. I get a little rambunctious at the top and it continued long after the video cuts out… :s Unfortunately the video does miss the first move. Low low quality for now, the internet is very slow and sporadic at the Rock Ranch, 5MB was the biggest I could upload after many tries.Terremer, Video by Sam Davis

Book Review: Yosemite in the Fifties by Patagonia Publishing
The pilgrimage to Yosemite for any climber is a momentous occasion. Drawn to the valley by it’s history and beauty, Yosemite has become a place of young men and women transforming into giants, seeking adventure and unafraid of the unknown. Over the years, the stories told on the valley floor have grown into tall tales themselves that continue to inspire a whole new generation of climbers. Perhaps each of us long for adventure but are looking for a catalyst that will light our longing on fire. Yosemite in the Fifties is just that, a physical catalyst for lighting dreams on fire.

Local News ‘Simon Parton send Terremer (v15)’
Very pleased to announce that Simon Parton has sent Terremer (v15) in Hueco Tanks, TX. According to Tiffany Melius, Simon spent less than an hour on the boulder during the first day of a two week trip. Simon had previously sent Terre de Sienne (v14) on the same boulder a number of years ago on his second try. More to come as soon as it is available.

Video: Alex Honnold in Angola
Alex travels to Angola with Staci Bare to look for new rock and bring focus to the number of landmines left by civil war as well as Honnold’s solar initiative. Very entertaining and inspiring!
Alex Honnold is the most accomplished free climber in the world. Angola is a southwest African country that recently emerged from 27 years of bloody civil war. What brings together these strange bedfellows you ask? Some of the most epic unclimbed rocks in the world, and a community needing help to diffuse the hidden land mines leftover from the conflict. (Plus a shadowy local hotel magnate, but we’ll get into that later). This is Alex Honnold in Angola, for one of the most unique adventures of his storied climbing career this far.
