Local News ‘Alex Megos makes One Day Ascent of Dreamcatcher (5.14d)’
We are very pleased to announce that Alex Megos has made a one day ascent of Dreamcatcher (5.14d), located at the Grand Wall Boulders in Squamish, BC. With the rain potentially setting in tomorrow, Alex made his flash attempt this morning on the route only to fall on the slab at the beginning. After quickly working the route and completing the rest of the moves, Alex lowered only to fall on the slab again and again throughout the day until finally, late in the day, Alex made it through the slab and completed the rest of the route with pure control and style. Congratulations to our visiting guest! It was truly a treat to see the send!

Recent News ‘Alex Megos completes The Big Show’
Alex Megos and crew made it to Squamish on Monday and didn’t stop to take a breath! Heading right to The Big Show in Chek Canyon, Alex made an attempt to on-sight the hardest route on the wall, Superman (5.14c), only to fall on the last move! Alex then went on to complete that route second try, using dyno beta at the end. Going back the next wall, Alex completed all the link ups on the wall, essentially ticking the entire Big Show in two days.
Tonight, Alex will be putting on a free slide show at Patagonia Vancouver (starting at the time of this post). Talking to Alex today in the boulders after he finished checking out Dreamcatcher, he said that he had never experienced holds like the ones on The Big Show and was worried they were going to give him trouble. I guess not!
As temperatures cool, I am sure we will see more Megos action!

Development News and Topo: The Substation in Chek Canyon, Squamish, BC
We are pleased to release the topo of a new wall found in Chek Canyon through the hard work of Toby Foord-Kelcey. The Wall features a good selection of overhanging routes from 5.10 to 5.13. Toby recently finished the test-piece of the wall, Incandescence (5.13a), in which he had to train specifically to complete. Special thanks to Toby for his efforts along with CASBC for the bolts!
The cliff can be found at the beginning of the Conroy Creek Service Rd. Park at the yellow gate and walk two minutes up a super mellow road in a clear cut! For topo, please download here.
Recent News ‘Alex Megos Flashes The Path (5.14R) in Lake Louise, AB’
We are very pleased to announce that Alexander Megos flashed The Path (5.14r) on his last day in the Canadian Rockies yesterday. After rolling up to the route, Sonnie Trotter needed to call a friend to confirm a few gear placements and then Alex dispatched the route with ease. Talk about capping off an amazing trip. Megos and co are off to Squamish over the next few days despite some hot temps.
