The Climber’s Access Society of BC (CASBC) will be having their Annual General Meeting on Wednesday November 9th, 2016 at the Mountain Equipment Co-op Head Office starting at 7pm. This is a very important time for all British Columbian climbers to come together and show support for our primary organization that ensures access to our climbing areas. Be sure to come out and become a member if you are not!
Here are the details on the event.
Kate Bell, from the Hive, is going to open the evening with a presentation regarding a possible launch of our Canadian version of Rock Project – a climbing stewardship initiative that Black Diamond sponsors with the Access Society in the states. Kate will give a 10 min talk on climbing stewardship and ethics, whether bouldering or alpine climbing.
Sarah Hart, MEC ambassador
Sarah’s been called a hummingbird, and for good reason, she touches down for all of like 10 seconds before racing off in pursuit of the next slurp of sweet nectar. Her nectar however, is bouldering, sport climbing, crack climbing, alpine climbing, ice climbing, mountain running, skiing, and about everything in between. To say she has a lot of energy, is an understatement.
She’s spent the better part of 5 years travelling around the world chasing mountains and men, but this last year she touched down long enough to realize that as a Canadian, she doesn’t have to leave the country to find all the sweet nectar she could dream of.
One part an ode to our amazing backyard, and equal parts the story of a girl who wants to, “do all the things!” Join Sarah for an evening of pretty pictures, and the inside scoop on how this generalist manages to fit it all in. Here’s part of the secret, it’s not always pretty.
