If you’re in Canmore on October 5: come to the free ACMG Mountain Film Night! Doors open at 6:45 PM, films start at 7.
“Black Friar” – An exciting and beautiful first ski descent in the Adamants, a remote area of the northern Selkirks. Features ACMG member Christina Lustenberger (Ski Guide; formerly on the Canadian Alpine Ski Team and 2006 Winter Olympics competitor.)
“On the Verge” – Some of the largest granite walls in Canada are in the mountains behind the little town of Powell River on BC’s coast. A small group of rock climbers has spent decades quietly pioneering routes. Logging roads allowed them to find this spectacular area in the first place. Do they fight for the last stands of old-growth trees and potentially lose access? Ignore it as the final ancient trees are harvested? A film about adventure, exploration, and asking how we reconcile the industries that we all need with the destruction they may cause. Great climbing footage and thoughtful questions.
“All In” – An epic ski film spearheaded by a talented group of hard-charging women who wanted to feature as many women as men, disrupting the male-dominated ski film formula. Action, beautiful photography, and humour. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VmvPSMfpwWY
Location: Bill Warren Training Centre. Donations accepted to the Simon Parboosingh fund, which helps injured or ill ACMG guides and instructors.
