As reported early this year, Rolf Rybak, vice president and regional director of the Climber’s Access Society of BC, has taken on the task of forming the Skaha Bluffs Park Watch Society.
The Skaha Bluffs Park Watch Society was formed earlier this year and has a mandate to deter auto crime in the Skaha Bluffs parking lot and inform patrons of the potential of vehicle break-ins. This system will be run by paid persons that will patrol the parking lot during climbing hours.
This coming Easter weekend, The Skaha Bluffs Park Watch Society will be having a fundraiser in the parking lot, asking for donations to fund Park Watch. It was not long ago that each car had to pay $10.00 per day to climb in Skaha and that a one time donation to Park Watch will make a substantial impact on car theft in the area. They will also be installing a donation box beside the toilets and encourage climbers and hikers to throw in a loonie or toonie twhen they can to pay for the parking lot monitor who will be on site to safeguard vehicles.
So, if you are headed to Skaha on Easter weekend, be sure to line you pockets with cash and donate to this worthy cause. This initiative has also been supported by the Climbers Access Society of BC. Be sure to click on the banner to your right and become a member now!
