On a rainy Friday night in Squamish, the Squamish Academy of Music played host to The Unveiling by Ground up Climbing Centre. Catering to a packed house, the event was an information session and membership drive all in one. With good food and drink, the event was surely not to be missed.
The Ground Up team answered questions about the facility, including passes and family programs. In the corner of the room, a virtual tour showed just what Ground Up will look like, including 8000 square feet of roped climbing and 3000 feet of bouldering space. Some of the highlights included 40 ft ceilings and a 30 degree bouldering wall that comes out 18 feet from the wall as well as an in-house cafe. Ground Up Climbing Center ended up selling the majority of their early passes and a few lifetime memberships.
Although a finish date is still not set in stone (Fall 2015), we can be sure that the facility will be top notch. Stay tuned to Squamish Climbing Magazine for more information.
