News broke yesterday that BC local Marc-Andrew Leclerc and his climbing partner Ryan Johnson have been reported missing after summiting the Mendenhall Towers in Alasha on Monday, March 5th. The pair reportedly planned to return from their summit on March 7th.
We have been hesitant to report the recent news of Marc and his partner missing, as Marc is such a big part of the Squamish climbing community and we continue to hope for him and his parters safe return.
The Squamish Chief released an article yesterday updating the search rescue for the two climbers. They reported that theJuneau Mountain Rescue personnel and the U.S. Coast Guard found the teams ski gear stash but there was no sign of the climbers getting back to the stash after the summit on March 5th.
It was last reported that the rescue for the two climbers is currently in a holding pattern due to poor weather conditions in the area. We are hoping for the safe return of these two climbers and our thoughts and prayers are with them
