We are very psyched to announce that Kelly Franz has sent Pulse (5.14a) in Cheakamus Canyon, Squamish, BC. Pulse was the first 5.14a in Canada and now it is the first 5.14a of Kelly Franz!

Kelly began trying Pulse this spring and had laser focus on the climb throughout most of the season this year.
The breakthrough on the route came Saturday, when Kelly linked the lower section in the best possible way falling off the dyno. After lowering off one go, he decided to wait until Sunday to try again, knowing the send was in sight. Arriving Sunday to find the Big Show looking more like a gong show, Kelly kept his cool, falling early on his first and second go only to arrive at the chains on his third go of the night.
Speaking to Kelly this morning, he is still basking in the send light, contemplating the meaningfulness and the meaninglessness of the emphasis we put on our own climbing goals. He also mentioned that he just wanted to acknowledge the endless support from his friends and family and those who shared the journey.
Congratulations Kelly! Can’t wait to see what is next!
