More filming is to start Monday at the Stawamus Chief, according to BC Parks. Starting Monday, June 15th, 2015, a small crew of thirty people will begin setting up the shoot, located on the south side of the Cacodemon boulder to Black Dyke Boulder. Filming will commence on the dates of June 25, 26, 29, and 30 and will involve a larger crew of 250 people. According to Centre Forward Productions, the first three days of filming will be in and around the Cacodemon boulder and the last day of shooting will be south of the Black Dyke boulder.
For those climbing in the area on filming days, the production company has indicated that delays will occur on some trails while they are filming but will do their best to accommodate park users. There will also be a number of trucks parked in the lower parking lot during set-up and filming as well as some vehicles running along the side of the ‘Apron Connector’ trail. BC Parks noted that a lane for vehicles will continue be open in the lower parking lot so that cars can get back into town and access to the ‘Apron Connector’ trail will be open throughout the duration of the filming.
When asked about why BC Parks has allowed filming in the area during the busy season, they indicated that they try their best to ensure no filming in the park, but there was a heavy demand for filming in the area this year. They reported that the production company will be making a donation to the access societies in the area for use of the climbing area.
