At the beginning of this year, the Climbers Access Society of BC put their bolt program on hold in order to re-evaluate a number of issues regarding the program including liability, hardware specifications, and a new application program.
Last week, the CASBC Board of Directors reinstated the Crag Development Program (previously the CASBC Bolt Fund) along with a number of tweaks that rose from discussions between board members to best serve the greater climbing community across British Columbia.
A number have changes have taken place to the program and include:
-a new online application program with four application deadline dates per year
-a move to handing out funding rather than actual hardwar
-required standards for hardware purchased through the program
-more transparency in the application program including clear dates on application decisions
-new system of accountability for hardware purchased
With the program being rolled out for the first set of applications due June 30th, 2017, time will tell as to whether the process is more transparent and user friendly for developers across the province.
